Do You Have Bumpy, Pebbly Skin? It Could Be Non-Inflamed Acne Arrest.

Treating acne with supplements

If you have acne, you know how difficult dealing with pimples, blackheads, cysts and even scars can be. Although it is an inherited disorder of the pores, it often feels like your skin wants to sludge up dead skin cells like a clogged drain over and over again into eternity.

While normal pores shed about one layer of dead skin cells per day inside the pore, acne-prone pores shed up to seven layers of dead skin cells per day. As you can imagine, the body just can’t keep up.

Acne arrest is one of the most difficult forms of acne because it is noninflamed. Noninflamed acne lives under the skin and doesn’t surface into pimples and blackheads like inflamed acne does. Instead, it remains underneath, forming little “pebbles” of dead skin cells, oil, and sebum that can’t come out on their own.

With inflamed acne, the clogged pore opens up into a comedone (pimple) and is exposed to bacteria and which gets infected, resulting in inflammation. Whereas noninflamed acne, since the clogged pore usually can’t open up on its own, it just sits stagnant.  This acne type lacks the needed oxygen in the pore to kill the bacteria and manage the oil and dead skin buildup.

To give you an idea what noninflamed acne looks like; the skin appears very dull, oily, and sluggish. It typically looks like the skin is studded with closed comedones. When you stretch the skin, you are able to see the pebbles of debris underneath the surface.

In a normal acne life-cycle, the comedones mature into blackheads, pustules or whiteheads. But when the acne is arrested, the accumulations get trapped but the acne continues to grow in size.
This process is called Maturation Arrest Acne because the comedones do not move ahead and mature into blackheads etc. Instead, they continue to enlarge with the surface opening and never dilate, thus trapping more and more debris inside.

This is generally caused by using the wrong products over a long period of time. This includes products that are very dehydrating, or have pore clogging ingredients. Acne Arrest occurs because the skin becomes full of obstructions that are never discharged.

Acne Arrest can only be helped with thorough exfoliation, extractions, and using the correct homecare products. These are some of the few things that can get deep enough under the skin to remove the remove the debris.

Other things to keep in mind are things like diet. Here are a few things to avoid when experiencing Acne Arrest, or if you are in the process of clearing it up:

  • Salty foods
  • Seafood
  • Seaweed
  • Dairy products
  • Organ Meats
  • Peanuts
